Alps Electric showed its new touchpad with "minute capacitance sensing technology", capable of sensing moving fingers about 3 cm above it. The electric capacity of the hand can be sensed by capacitance sensors in the touchpad. Laptops are only the beginning. Look for it to be used in a wide variety of products.
